The FCT minister was described as a “unruly person who wants to destroy our party” by the PDP leader.
Dele Momodu, who oversees strategic communications for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, claimed that if given the authority, he would have dismissed Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
On Tuesday, Momodu said, “I don’t have the power, if I had power, I would have fired him (Wike) long ago.” She was speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm programme.
However, the PDP leader insisted that he does not regret Wike’s nomination as a minister by All Progressives Congress (APC) President Bola Tinubu.
Momodu responded, “Such an unruly person who wants to destroy our party? “, when asked why he would expel the former governor of Rivers State from the party. No one person may demand ransom for everyone else. If we fought the military in this nation—Tinubu was one of those who participated in that fight—and you’re going to allow a civilian dictatorship now?
Because of differences over power sharing within the PDP, Wike and the other four governors who made up the G-5 in the PDP withdrew their support for Atiku Abubakar prior to the 2023 elections.
The former governor of the Rivers supported the ultimate election victor, Tinubu, who honoured him by appointing him as FCT Minister.
Momodu and other PDP members have been demanding for Wike to be kicked out of the party, but the minister dared the party’s leadership to suspend or punish him in a recent interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
“Who will punish me? Since the party encouraged rotation, I should be the one demanding the punishment of those who broke the party’s rules.
“Whose suspension of me? I want to challenge anyone,” Wike declared.
Before accepting the ministerial offer from President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he claimed to have notified the PDP leadership.
Wike said that while serving in the APC administration, he was still a PDP leader. He remarked, “I want to help Asiwaju (Tinubu) end well.
He claimed that because he supported the transfer of power to southern Nigeria, he owed no one an apology.
