If he violated the law, he must pay the price, Addressing MC Oluomo Video – Hamzat
MC Oluomo was caught on camera telling Igbo voters who wouldn’t vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to stay home before the March 18 gubernatorial elections.
On Tuesday, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who is the deputy governor of Lagos State, responded to Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, being accused of trying to scare voters away and making assumptions about them based on their race.
Before the March 18 gubernatorial elections, MC Oluomo appeared in a popular video telling Igbo voters not to vote for the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
MC Oluomo, who is also the chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, tried to explain his comments after he was criticised for them. He said he was talking to a woman named “Iya Chukwudi” instead of the Igbo in Lagos and that he was being funny.
Hamzat, who spoke live on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, asserted that MC Oluomo must go to court if there is proof of his guilt.
When asked if he thought there was justification for the requests to have the APC supporter arrested, the deputy governor responded, “I’m not asking for the arrest of anybody. Neither a police officer nor a prosecutor am I. People will examine the proof.

“In the instance of MC Oluomo, he has publicly admitted that he was actually making a reference to a specific woman, Mama Chinedu, or something like. A video of the incident is available, and the woman who was speaking to him claimed, “He was chatting to me and we’ve been friends or he’s been my client for years.”
“[She] said he was speaking to her. Although I don’t have all the information, I encourage everyone to look into the facts. If he has indeed breached the law, he will undoubtedly be held accountable. It’s as elementary as ABC.
He thinks it is “extremely regrettable” that voters were looked at and judged on election day, and that some people were not allowed to vote because of how they looked.
That is total nonsense. People should be detained and charged with crimes if they occurred and there exist cameras. The basic line is that, he said.

Hamzat said that some of his followers were too passionate when he talked about audio recordings of supposed threats made by APC executive council members to non-voting state residents.
“It’s terrible how some people take things too far. In Alaba Market, I have pals. It was enjoyable for me to visit Alaba Market. Igbo APC members existed.
“Thus, it is absurd for someone to argue that you won’t vote because you are Igbo. Anybody who does it should be brought to justice. Bottomline. They should be held accountable if it was a crime.
It is foolish to think that just because a person is from one ethnic group, he would vote that way, he added.
