Three captives were allegedly “mistakenly identified as a threat” in the northern town of Shejaiya, according to the Israeli military, which executed them. The hostages were being held in Gaza.

The victims have been identified as Yotam Haim, who was abducted from Kibbutz Kfar Aza, and Samer Talalka, who was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Am. The bodies have been returned to Israel.

The third hostage’s family requested that the name remain anonymous.

The event is being looked into, according to the Israeli military. In a statement, it states that “the IDF expresses deep remorse over the tragic incident and sends the families its heartfelt condolences” .

“Our national mission is to locate the missing and return all the hostages home,” it continues.

Following their abduction during the October 7 attacks in Israel, over 100 hostages are still being held captive in Gaza.

It mentioned Yotam Haim and Samer Talalka as two of them, but it omitted the name of the third.

Earlier, rockets were fired towards Jerusalem for the first time since October 30; however, the Iron Dome security system stopped them.

There is still fighting in Gaza, according to locals, in the northern, centre, and southern regions as a result of the Israeli offensive.

Meanwhile, the White House has hailed Israel’s announcement that it will permit supplies to enter Gaza through the Kerem Shalom gate.

On October 7, Hamas breached Israel’s strongly fortified barrier, murdering 1,200 people and capturing 240 prisoners, some of whom were freed after a short ceasefire.

Since the beginning of the Gaza conflict, over 18,700 people have died and 50,000 have been injured in the enclave, according to the health ministry in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas.
