The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that a senior member of Hezbollah, Mohammad Rashid Sakafi, was killed in an airstrike in Lebanon.
According to a statement by the IDF on X this Friday, Sakafi was killed in an “accurate intelligence-driven strike in Beirut yesterday.”
It referred to Sakafi as “a senior Hezbollah terrorist” who had been the head of communications for the group since 2000.
“Sakafi put substantial effort into enhancing communication capabilities across all Hezbollah units,” according to the Israeli army. Hezbollah has not responded to these claims.
In recent months, the IDF has carried out assassinations of several senior members of Hezbollah, including their long-standing leader Hassan Nasrallah. He was killed on September 27.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, while visiting the 36th Division’s headquarters in northern Israel on Friday, stated that the army had “more surprises in store” for Hezbollah.
In late September, Israel ramped up its airstrikes on Lebanon and conducted cross-border raids in retaliation to repeated rocket attacks by Hezbollah. According to Lebanese health authorities, the bombing campaign has resulted in over 2,000 deaths and displaced more than 1.2 million people in Lebanon.
Approximately 70,000 Israelis were previously compelled to evacuate the northern region of the country due to attacks by Hezbollah. The IDF announced that their ongoing operation aims to drive militants away from the border and secure the area for refugees’ return. However, Hezbollah has pledged to persist in launching rockets at Israel until the IDF halts its conflict with Hamas in Gaza.
