Michael Ayinde, 51, and his 19-year-old son Abiola were placed under remand by an Ibadan Family Court on Tuesday due to allegations of raping Ayinde’s daughter and the latter’s sister.
Mrs. O. O. Ogunkanmi, the magistrate, denied the defendants’ petitions and instead imposed a remand order, placing them in the Abolongo Correctional Facility in Oyo Town.

The complainant’s father and elder brother, the defendants, are said to have perpetrated the crime in their Agboti Olosan neighbourhood home in Alakia, Ibadan.
According to Ogunkanmi, the father and son were placed on remand so that the court may await the conclusion of the legal counsel provided by the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
She then postponed the issue until February 21 so that it may be discussed.
Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, the prosecution’s lawyer, had previously told the court that Abiola Ayinde, the complainant’s brother, was suspected of having illicit sex with his younger sister between December 2023 and December 2021.
Adedeji claimed that between December 2021 and December 2023, their father Michael reportedly had illegal carnal knowledge of his 17-year-old daughter without her consent, and that Abiola had impregnated her without her consent.
According to her, section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law, 2006, was broken by the offence.
