Before they worked together on the “Calm Down” remix, American singer and actress Selena Gomez said she was a fan of Nigerian afrobeats star Rema.
She claimed that before the “Rave Lorde” contacted her for a remix of “Calm Down,” she first fell in love with Rema’s song, “Runaway.”
Gomez stated that she chose Rema as her coworker because she adores his personality and that she “just wanna take care of him.”
This was revealed by the 32-year-old sensation while they were guests on the most recent VA 100 New York Podcast.
She confessed, “I actually fell in love with the song ‘Runaway’ before I fell in love with ‘Calm down.’ I genuinely enjoyed him. But it [the remixing of “Calm Down”] was really entirely his idea.
“When I first met him, I was genuinely struck by his demeanour, humility, and sense of gratitude for every day. And I just wasn’t able to choose someone else who deserved all of this accomplishment. He is really generous. I’m not sure; all I want to do is like take care of him [laughs].
