I Used to Pay Asake with a Plate of Rice and Soft Drink – Yemi Elesho

Comedian Yemi Elesho recalls the early days of singer Asake, revealing that he once paid him with food and a drink as a performance fee.

Nigerian actor and content creator Yemi Elesho has shared details about his connection with Grammy-winning singer Asake.

In a recent interview with streamer Jigan, Elesho disclosed that his connection with the singer began during their undergraduate years at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife.

He mentioned having a long-standing working relationship with Asake, recalling that he used to compensate him for appearing in his movies and skits on campus by giving him a plate of rice and a bottle of Coca-Cola as performance fees.

He remembered compensating Asake with a ₦700 plate of rice and a bottle of Coca-Cola for appearing in films during their undergraduate years at OAU.

“He has been my close friend from the very beginning. I have photos and videos of us together at OAU, where we used to participate in celebrity football matches back in the day.”
