According to Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu, she used to sell oranges and sachet water—referred to as “pure water” in the community—on the streets of Aba, Abia State.

The Racing Louisville striker said in a recent video that she hawked alongside her brother, who sold fizzy drinks, on her Tiktok profile.

The 26-year-old claimed they enjoyed their time hawking.

When I was younger, I used to sell oranges, she remarked. I used to hawk oranges by peeling them, placing them in a pan on top of my head, and walking around the streets of Aba.

“I also sold water, too. I offered icy water and pure water to Nigerians who would see this video. I would also travel with my brother, who would promote sodas like Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Pepsi. Sometimes, while we are hawking at the market, we just happen to notice each other and exclaim, “Hey!” After laughing, we would split off once more.

After representing Nigeria at the FIFA U-17 and U-20 Women’s World Cups in 2014, Kanu rose to prominence.

With the Super Falcons in 2019, she made her senior debut.
