Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has made a firm declaration that he will never lead the state from a position of submission, emphasizing that he will not govern on his knees.
He expressed his deep concern over the ongoing efforts to undermine the essence of the state, referring to it as a threat to its very soul.
This statement comes amidst a tense standoff between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Despite the ongoing political rivalry, Governor Fubara strongly condemned the destructive nature of politics and the bitterness it breeds, recognizing the detrimental impact it can have on the progress of the state.

These remarks were made during a visit to the Ubima country home of Sir Celestine Omehia, a former governor of Rivers State, in the Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Governor Fubara, accompanied by a group of respected elders from the state, offered their condolences to Sir Celestine Omehia on the recent loss of his mother, Mrs Ezinne Cecilia Omehia.
Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of showing support, concern, and love during times of grief, stating that anyone who harbors enmity towards death is not mentally sound.
He also expressed joy for the well-lived life of Mama Omehia and wished her a peaceful journey in the afterlife.
Governor Fubara reiterated his unwavering stance, declaring that he will govern the state standing tall and firmly on the side of righteousness, refusing to govern from a position of subservience.
