Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno, expressed his long-held ambition for Senator Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, on Friday.

When Zulum invited the legislator to a sallah lunch at the Government House in Maiduguri, he revealed the information.

Shettima, a 56-year-old former governor and commissioner, represents Borno Central in the National Assembly.

President-elect Bola Tinubu and Shettima are filling in for President Muhammadu Buhari, according to Zulum, who said he will miss the enormous support he received from the incumbent.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) winning the election in February, the governor claimed, had greatly relieved him and his administration.

Senator Shettima, the incoming vice president, is present and waiting to take the oath of office. Since I was inaugurated as president in 2019, it has been one of my prayers.

“Insha Allah, I have a brother and a boss with me who will support me, the government, and the people in the next four years.”

Zulum voiced optimism for the next federal administration, claiming that Tinubu “dearly loves Borno State and shares our pains.”

Zulum has received several public declarations of President Buhari’s praise, in which he calls him a “role model” for other leaders.
