On Wednesday, the police in Edo State announced that 84-year-old Gabriel Ahuwa had been taken into custody for allegedly killing his 75-year-old wife for refusing to have sex with him.
At a press conference in Benin, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s public relations officer, reported the arrest of the suspect.
The elderly person, according to Nwabuzor, is one of 198 individuals detained in the State for a variety of offences, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder, among others.
“The suspect shows no remorse. He still maintained, even after killing his wife, that doing so was the only way to stop her from depriving him of sex.
Speaking about newsmen, the suspect claimed his wife had been refusing him sex for a very long period.
“My wife doesn’t pay attention to what I say. She always said no when I invited her to join me for sleep. Seven kids have been born into our family.
“I reported my wife to my family and to hers as well, but she did not listen to them and kept up her old habits.
Meanwhile, I’ve heard that she’s been having affairs with some pastors,” the suspect said.
But he later admitted that he had regrets about what he had done.
