The former Barcelona superstars Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho have been cited by Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku as two sources of inspiration.
The Belgian international recalled how much he enjoyed watching Messi and Ronaldinho as a youngster.
Following his £56 million (€68 million) summer transfer to Manchester City, Doku is emerging as a superstar in his own right.
I never hung anyone’s poster on my wall when I was a kid. Doku said in an interview with Man City’s official club magazine, “I used to have players I loved to watch, players who were outstanding dribblers — Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho.
“I learned to dribble on my own – I was always outside, playing with a football practising,” the author says. “But these days, you see kids doing that less and less, and there aren’t as many kids playing on the street with a ball.”
