Reno Omokri, a socio-political analyst, recently revealed that he was the one who suggested Peter Obi as a running mate for former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in 2019.

Omokri mentioned that he recommended Obi in response to a direct request from Atiku himself.

During an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on his podcast, Mic On, the former presidential aide expressed his unwavering loyalty to Atiku, stating that he would not abandon him to back President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Despite his support for some of Tinubu’s economic policies, Omokri emphasized that he played a crucial role in suggesting Peter Obi to Atiku and that he would continue to stand by Atiku in future political endeavors.

Omokri recounted how he consulted with former President Jonathan, who also endorsed Peter Obi as the running mate, but Omokri insisted on presenting a list of potential candidates to Atiku.

He highlighted that he ensured Obi’s name stood out among the others on the list, ultimately leading to Atiku’s selection of Peter Obi as his running mate.

Omokri firmly stated that he could not betray Atiku’s trust by supporting his opponent in the next election, reiterating his commitment to backing Atiku if he decides to run for the presidency in 2027 under the PDP banner.
