The father of four, Lukman Soladoye, appeared in court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, on Tuesday to respond to accusations of abuse against his wife, Kemi Soladoye, and their four children.
Soladoye claims that although he loves his wife and children and just wants the best for them, he beats them when they misbehave.
The complainant had previously disclosed, through lawyer B.A. Tanko, that she had thought about filing for divorce due to the ongoing abuse, but she eventually made the decision to resolve her issues with her spouse.

She pleaded with the judge to order the accused to stop physically abusing her and their children.
“You are not supposed to beat your wife; instead, you should talk to her about it and express your displeasure if she does anything wrong.”
“As for your children, always show love and affection to your children, pray for them, and advise them; beating is not the only way to correct a child,” the judge counselled.
The judge said that the court would continue to monitor the defendant’s actions and gave the complainant instructions to let the court know if the defendant assaults her again.
