The All Progressives Congress (APC) has received assurances from Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, that Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, has Bello’s unwavering support.
He called a Sunday magazine and said he had stopped supporting Tinubu’s fake news and denounced it. He requested that organisations in charge of overseeing journalism practises fulfil their obligations.
Bello, the National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council, said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics that the 2022 Electoral Act gives the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the authority to look into and prosecute those who spread false information about elections.
“When I got up, I noticed that today’s news was fake.” It is quite regrettable, and I am pleading with all law enforcement officials and regulatory organisations that oversee journalists and media professionals in Nigeria to uphold their duties.
“The present election enables even INEC to look into issues like these and prosecute liars and those who spread false information, especially as it relates to this election.”

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and my own brother, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, are our leader and president-elect in the making, according to Bello.”Let me further reassure millions of Nigerian youths and Nigerians, our followers and supporters across the world, that I remain a very supportive and ardent supporter, mobilizer, campaigner, and driver of votes for them,” he added.
He demanded that the publication be revoked within 24 hours and that law enforcement agencies take action against individuals responsible for the publication. Should the publishers not withdraw the book, he warned of legal action.
The Kogi governor, who ran against Tinubu for the APC presidential nomination, recalled that he was the first candidate to publicly offer his support and proclaim his intention to work for the former governor of Lagos State, even before he was solicited to do so.
As the Tinubu campaign’s young mobilizer, he claimed to be fully certain that their efforts would result in a resounding win for the party on February 25.
