Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, is not currently running for office in the State of Rivers, according to Governor Nyesom Wike.
Wike stated that there was little agreement in Rivers to justify such support, and thus he would not force himself to campaign for Atiku.
Wike delivered a speech Tuesday in Bonny Town at the local government campaign launch hosted by the Rivers State PDP Campaign Council.
“Go home and remember that the PDP has taken the governorship, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Assembly in Rivers State,” Wike said in an address to the people of Bonny.

“We are conducting an election in this place.” These are the candidates who invited me to attend their campaigns. I received no other advice to support him from anyone. “Since you haven’t asked for my support, I can’t make myself an advocate for you.” I’ve come to this area to campaign because these politicians have told me to. You will do someone’s bidding if they ask you to work for them. Will you compel them to hire you if they don’t want to?
Wike warned that anyone who dismissed Rivers as unimportant would pay a price for disobeying the state.
