‘I Built a Mansion for Odili, My Picture Was in All His Rooms, Even the Toilet – Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike reveals he built a mansion for former Governor Peter Odili, claiming his pictures adorned all rooms, including the toilet, in a surprising disclosure.
Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, disclosed that he constructed a mansion for his one-time political ally and predecessor, Peter Odili.
Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asserted on Sunday during a Special Thanksgiving Service hosted by Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, in Port Harcourt.
The FCT Minister responded to claims made by Odili, who accused Wike of planning to turn the state into his personal property.
Wike mentioned that during his tenure as governor of the state, he personally contacted Julius Berger to construct a mansion for Odili.
He claimed that Odili was inviting everyone to his house, enthusiastically saying “Come and see what Wike has done for me; Wike has shown me love.” He then took them on a tour around the house.
Wike, who criticized Odili’s praise for the current Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stated, “The governor we all supported hasn’t even completed a year in office yet. Despite this, Odili has already claimed that he has outperformed all previous governors of Rivers State.”
“You served as governor for eight years, yet someone with less than one year in the role has exceeded your achievements. Is this how a respected elder speaks? Should an elder statesman be known for such remarks?”
Wike also disclosed that during his time as governor, “my pictures were displayed all over his house—in the living room, bedroom, kitchen—and even in the bathroom.
However, today all the pictures have been taken down.
