I became an artist thanks to D’banj, P-Square, and Wizkid’s success – Davido
Nigerian Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, aka Davido, has acknowledged that his desire to become a musician was sparked by the success of his peers, including D’banj, P-Square, and Wizkid.
In a recent interview with Omega, he made this claim.
Before returning to Nigeria, the Atlanta-born singer claimed he was acquainted with Wizkid, Wande Coal, and D’banj.
“I remember being in the club, and P-Square and D’banj were the biggest artists back then,” he recalled. Wizkid was extremely young at the time, but he was rising in the game.
“And I recall thinking at that time that I wanted to make Nigerian music. I’d like to embark on it first. It was already obvious that it would be significant.
Davido claimed that he began his career as a star because his father is wealthy and that many A-list musicians were familiar with him before he became well-known.
