HURIWA wants to organise squad in Abuja to look for missing genital organs

A specific missing genital organs and anti-one chance police unit has to be established in Abuja, according to the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA).

The rights group made its request in response to mounting worries about the actions of some criminal elements who are purportedly prowling about Abuja and other states of the federation collecting male genital organs.

In a press release made available to PlatinumPost on Tuesday by HURIWA’s national coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory was requested to coordinate with the security services, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, to form the squad.

In order to lessen the effects of such egregious criminality if it is established to be factually and empirically proven, the group also requested insurance firms to develop policies for MISSING GENITAL ORGANS.

In addition to lamenting the recent rise in cases of reported genital organ disappearances in some North Central states, particularly in Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and the capital, HURIWA urged the government to take prompt action to educate the populace about how to distinguish fact from rumour.

However, unhappily, the police authority in the FCT is quite dismissive of this severe threat to the wellness of the FCT inhabitants and frequently denies that such exists when in fact and in reality, stealing of male genital organs is spreading like wild fire in recent years.

“It is rather absurd that rather than study and gain fuller understandings of the methodology, whether orthodox or unorthodox applied by the criminals, police have regrettably chosen to feign ignorance and maintain that it is yet unclear how the miscreants carry out such acts, but worried residents of the FCT have, for over a month now, been living in fear following reported cases of “stealing” of manhoods,” the statement said.

HURIWA stated that although the police authority has not yet put concrete measures in place to stop the activities of these daredevil miscreants who steal human organs, the ugly trend has resulted in the murder of some people by enraged youths who attacked suspects for allegedly being the cause of the mystifying disappearance of manhoods.

“HURIWA affirmed that the claim that there are many stories of how the horrific crime is being committed in the city is factually valid. The victim’s penis may vanish after a simple talk with the suspected manhood thief, according to some, but other witnesses claim it happens after physical contact, such as a handshake.

“HURIWA recalled vividly that on August 23, the Nasarawa State Police Command, while warning residents against jungle justice being meted out to the state’s alleged organ thieves, revealed that some people had been attacked over the same claims in the Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia, and Keffi Local Government Areas of the state. However, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, claimed that a medical check of the alleged victims “gave all of them a clean bill of health,” claiming that the charges were without merit. On September 20, a group of angry youngsters in the FCT’s phase 2 Gwagwalada neighbourhood lynched a young man who has not yet been named for allegedly snatching a local man’s genitalia. Another local, Lucky Josiah, was charged with causing the loss of one Rokeeb Saheed’s manhood three days after the incident. While confirming the unfortunate occurrence, Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh stated that officers from the command came swiftly to a distress call indicating that a victim was being lynched.

Although Saheed’s male organ was “confirmed to be fine” following medical examinations, Lucky’s injuries were “treated,” according to the FCT PPRO, locals have continued to report similar incidents almost on a daily basis in both the city centre and satellite towns. Online on Friday of last week, a distressing video of an alleged male thief being tortured and dehumanised by a mob, including some security personnel, appeared.

The alleged thief, who was charged with taking two manhoods, was heard in the video claiming his innocence.

HURIWA criticised the police’s cynicism, however, and urged the FCT administration, which is headed by Mr. Nyesom Wike, to collaborate with the FCT police command and all other security forces to establish a special “MISSING PENISES AND ANTI-ONE CHANCE ROBBERS” SQUAD to address the twin social crimes of missing male organs and the activities of obe chance robbers.

“Only yesterday, a lawyer from Abuja named Opeyemi Adewale revealed her experience being held captive by alleged kidnappers on September 26, 2023 in the Federal Capital Territory.

Adewale revealed that her husband and coworkers split N1m before she was freed. She claimed that on the evening of September 26 at a Lugbe park, she boarded a 14-seater bus without realising it was a “one-chance” vehicle, which is when her experience began. The attorney claimed that six minutes into the ride, the man seated next to her began verbally assaulting her, at which point she understood she was in trouble. She claimed that when she reached that realisation, she and two other women on the bus were the only actual passengers; everyone else was a gang member, the report added.

They started assaulting me and the other two ladies in the car, the victim of a random robbery in the FCT, according to HURIWA. When they were finished, they inquired about my occupation, so I pretended to be a teacher who had recently quit. I replied that I made less than N30,000 when they inquired about my income. When they inquired further about my husband, I replied that he is also a terrible trader.

“They searched my purse, discovered my ATM card, and asked for my PIN. They emptied my account, took all the cash I had on me, and told me to phone my family that they were bringing us to Kaduna and that one Alhaji was going to use us for a ritual, but that if we could call someone to pay a ransom of N1 million they would free us.

Her captors allegedly continued driving around the city as she made attempts to contact her relatives in order to obtain money for her release. She claimed that at midnight, her husband and coworkers were successful in raising money that was sent to the robbers before she was freed. Adewale also explained that the funds sent for her release were deposited into her account, as opposed to the criminals who withdrew the funds from a POS operator.
