A groundbreaking humanoid ‘clone’ robot has been unveiled, showcasing realistic movements and expressions in a viral video. Is this the future of AI?

A viral video has been released by a Polish-American robotics company showcasing an android designed to replicate human anatomy. This advanced robot features over 1,000 artificial muscles connected to a fully modeled skeleton and possesses a complex “nervous system.”

The video showcasing Clone Robotics’ ‘Alpha’ prototype, released on Wednesday, has rapidly amassed tens of millions of views. It depicts a faceless white android suspended in mid-air and twitching as its synthetic muscles activate.

Although it bears a resemblance to other humanoid robots such as Elon Musk’s Optimus and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, its distinct design principles differentiate it.

The model employs biomimetics—design principles inspired by biological evolution, like Velcro imitating plant hooks—to improve the robot’s functionality.

The full-body Clone builds upon previous inventions, such as a humanoid hand and torso, which the creators assert excel in delicate tasks while equaling human strength and dexterity. Designed to function as a household assistant, this android uses a natural language interface to execute its owner’s commands. The company aims to manufacture 279 Clones soon.

The research behind Clone was initiated in 2014 by Polish engineer Lucas Kozlik, with California-based mathematician Dhanush Radhakrishnan joining the effort later.

Several media sources have compared Clone to the realistic robots seen in HBO’s Westworld. Additionally, the Clone Robotics website promotes an initiative named Neo, intriguingly described as a “vision of a limitless future for humanity.”
