The government has found more than fifty decomposing dead bodies, more than twenty decapitated bodies and many human skeletons in the Lokpanta Cattle Market region of Umunneochi LGA, near the Enugu-Umuahia-Aba Port Harcourt Motorway, according to Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti.

At his monthly media engagement, “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” which took place on Sunday night at Government House in Umuahia, the governor made this revelation.

He reassured that his government is dedicated to taking on the challenges of insecurity head-on, regardless matter whose ox gets gored.

Since some brothels were recently shut down and Umunneochi is now peaceful, Governor Otti claimed that prostitution, the drug trade, and other illegal vices surrounding the Lokpanta Cattle Market made the raid necessary.

The Governor said that the Lokpanta market, which he had requested be turned into a daily market with an opening and closing time of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., would now be a general market with portions reserved for cattle dealers and other companies.

In an attempt to guarantee proper security, he continued, his administration is likewise enclosing the market.

He said that his administration decided to make the market a daily event because the Lokpanta area was known for kidnapping and armed robbery.

Despite misunderstandings about the policy, he added, everyone agreed with the government’s position that the market should be open every day for the benefit of all parties during a discussion with market leaders.

In addition, he guarantees that he would eradicate all forms of insecurity from Abia State and states that no government can survive in the face of violence, kidnapping, armed robbery, and instability.

According to Otti, technology will be placed at key locations to protect people and property within the State.
