According to Divine Ikubor, who is also known as Rema, all new Afrobeats artists that have emerged since 2019 are using the template he created.
During a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, he asserted his statement.
According to the singer of “Ozeba,” he is also credited with pioneering the trend of new musicians introducing themselves through extended plays.
“When I entered the music industry, I introduced a unique template. My approach to gaining dominance as a new artist contrasted from others. Specifically, I popularized the EP trend starting in 2019 which many emerging Afrobeats artists have followed suit by releasing their own EP’s upon debut,” he declared.

Rema expressed that numerous individuals are unwilling to acknowledge his role in pioneering Afrobeats, therefore he must promote himself.
Many individuals might dispute my contributions to Afrobeats, but I do not wish to be perceived as a savior for the genre.

He explained that at times he eagerly awaits the OGs to speak up, but if nobody does, then he might have to express it himself.
