Victor Boniface, a forward for Bayer Leverkusen, claims that he nearly gave up football at the age of 21 after getting hurt just two weeks after joining the Norwegian team FK Bodø/Glimt in 2019.
The 23-year-old said he had more “bad stories than good stories” during his “chaotic” time in Norway.

“I lived in Norway for roughly three years. We finished second once and won the league twice. But in terms of football, I found it to be chaotic. For me, it was extremely awful. In the most recent episode of Mikel Obi’s podcast, Boniface stated over Skype, “I think I have more bad stories than good stories there.”
That’s life, though, you know. Two weeks after signing in Norway, I suffered an ACL injury. I came close to giving up football at age 21.
He also said in the interview that he was a midfielder before relocating to Europe.
Following an injury that kept him out of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, Boniface recently lamented his ongoing medical problems.
He bemoaned, “U20 Nations Cup got injured 7 days before Nations cup,” on his X handle.
The Super Eagles suffered an injury six days prior to the Nations Cup.
“God alone knows the reason.”
