Lockna Philemon nearly missed the opportunity to be with her husband because she was still recovering from a toxic relationship and initially rejected his advances. However, on her wedding day in Bauchi, it was evident that she had moved on from her past and was filled with joy and excitement.

Having experienced the pain of a broken relationship before meeting the man who would bring her happiness, Lockna was hesitant to accept his proposal. She didn’t want to rush into another mistake and believed that all men were the same. Despite her husband being a family friend, dating him was the last thing on her mind.

When Philemon finally mustered the courage to ask her out, Lockna almost turned him down due to her previous bitter experience. However, with encouragement from others, she decided to give him a chance. It was unconventional for an African woman to make the first move, but her husband proposed to her through Facebook, and that’s how their relationship began.

Lockna describes her husband as charming, kind, and God-fearing, and his family welcomed her without any opposition. On the other hand, her husband admits that he was too shy to approach her directly, so he turned to social media as a means of communication.

In the end, Lockna accepted his proposal, and the rest is history.

Lockna and Philemon Yakubu celebrated their marriage in a grand manner at the St. Matthew’s Barracks Church, School of Armoured of the Nigerian Army Barracks, Bauchi on Saturday, June 1.

Philemon jokingly admitted that he was initially intimidated by Lockna’s physique. They first met at the church and he had been noticing her for some time.

“When a man is looking for someone to settle down with, he talks to different girls. But at the end of the day, I felt those ones were not suitable,” he explained. “Even though I was somewhat hesitant to approach her because of her nature and the fact that I am of smaller stature, I mustered up the courage. I didn’t have much confidence at first.”

He started talking to her through Facebook, and that’s how their relationship began. Lockna initially wanted to play hard to get, but fortunately, she eventually accepted his advances.

Philemon expressed his love for his wife, highlighting her dedication as a Sunday school teacher. He believed that she would understand his children better and raise them in a godly manner.

He also mentioned that her beauty was a factor that attracted him to her. Philemon stated that she was everything he had been looking for, and above all, she was a woman of faith.

Both Lockna and Philemon were fortunate to have the support and acceptance of their parents. Their parents believed in the importance of their children’s happiness and love for each other, rather than focusing on tribal or other external factors.

“When I introduced her to my parents, they accepted her,” Philemon shared.
