The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Distribution Companies (DISCOs) have been directed by the Nigerian House of Representatives to retract the recent rise in electricity tariffs for Band A clients.

On Tuesday, a directive was issued to revert back to the previous tariff as recommended by the House Committee on Power.

The committee suggested this change because of the financial burden that has been imposed on Nigerians due to the new rate.

The NERC had declared an increase in tariffs, causing the price for Band A customers to surge up to N225 per kilowatt.
