Statement Regarding Allegations of Assault Involving Rep. Alex Ikwechegh (APGA, Abia)
Reps spokesman, Akin Rotimi Jr., stated in a late Monday announcement that these reports, which have attracted significant media coverage and public interest, outline allegations involving a physical altercation with an e-hailing driver named Citizen Stephen Abuwatseya and the use of threatening language.

After the incident, police authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) announced that they had taken the lawmaker from Abia State into custody.
“The suspect is presently at the Maitama Police Station being questioned,” stated the police in a statement.
