Police reveal how hoodlums attacked and bombed the APP office in Rivers State. Discover the details of this shocking incident and ongoing investigations.
According to the Rivers State Police Command, their inquiry uncovered that assailants responsible for the bombing of Actions People’s Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt arrived at the location by car.
According to Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the command, two young men disembarked from a vehicle at the scene and triggered an explosion.
She stated that on August 12, 2024, the command was alerted to a distress message signaling a deafening blast at Tombia Extension’s APP secretariat in GRA Phase 2 of Port Harcourt.
According to her, the state police commissioner instantly dispatched a squad of tactical units consisting of specialists from Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD/Anti-Bomb) Squad to evaluate the circumstance at hand.

She stated that the team blocked off the region and initiated procedures for Explosive Ordinance Disposal, along with conducting search operations.
According to the PPRO, EOD experts of the command have detected a hole in front of the building that was created by an explosive device causing shockwaves and shattering windows and doors.
According to witnesses who were present during the explosion, a car had been parked near the APP secretariat and two individuals got out of it. They proceeded towards the building where they allegedly ignited an explosive device before throwing it at the secretariat. The suspects then returned to their vehicle and drove away from scene.
It appears that an explosive device was detonated based on the discovery of a crater, other evidence and eyewitness accounts. Fortunately, there were no casualties but the front of the building sustained damage.
She stated that the site of the explosion has undergone sampling for subsequent forensic examination. The command’s agents have been directed to step up their efforts in probing and capturing all individuals suspected to be involved in this occurrence.
Mr. Preye Josiah was identified by the PPRO as the prime suspect responsible for the explosion near Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt amid a protest orchestrated by anti-Fubara individuals within the state.
Stressing that Josiah was still hospitalized due to injuries sustained when he blew himself up, she stated that he had been listed as wanted by the police.
