Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Police Officer at Checkpoint
A police officer has been killed by a hit-and-run driver at a checkpoint, prompting a manhunt for the suspect.
The hit-and-run driver in Ekiti State took the life of Assistant Superintendent of Police Idris Lawal, causing a tragic loss.
On Monday, September 10th, the fatal occurrence took place at a checkpoint located in Ayemi Garage along Iworoko Road in Ado-Ekiti.
Lawal, who served in the Ekiti State Command, received emergency medical attention and was swiftly taken to Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), where certified physicians eventually declared him deceased.

It has been reported that at approximately 11 pm, an accident occurred during a stop-and-search operation involving the driver of an unmarked, white Mercedes Benz. The individual operating the vehicle neglected to halt and ultimately absconded from the area following impact.
An internal memo was released by the Ekiti State Police Command concerning the occurrence, and an autopsy will be conducted on the officer’s body which has been placed in a mortuary.
Efforts are being made by the authority to actively track down and capture the driver who is accountable for this unfortunate incident.
