Different local government areas in Rivers State have reported differing degrees of tension; some report occasional gunfire while others stay quiet.

Videos appearing on social media in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area purport to show security personnel associated with former council chairman Allwell Ihunda fire intermittently in response to irate youths chasing them and accusing them of being shot at by the police.

Likewise, at the Obio-Akpor Council Secretariat, people screaming both war and triumph songs tore posters and vandalised an official car owned by the former council chairman, George Ariorlu.

When the governor wrapped up his statewide broadcast, Obasanjonews.com learned that the two chairmen of the local government councils were remained on council property.
