Harris Nears Democratic Nomination Victory

Kamala Harris is on the brink of winning the Democratic nomination, with strong support in the primary elections.

Without winning a single public vote, the presumptive nominee of her political party is now the US vice president.

On Friday, the Democratic National Committee declared that Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, has garnered ample support from Democratic delegates to secure her nomination as their Presidential candidate.

According to a statement by Jaime Harrison, the chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Harris has secured her nomination as the party’s candidate for Monday’s “virtual roll call” vote. Harrison explained that most of the 3,904 delegates from within the Democratic Party voted in favor of Harris via phone or email on Friday.

Harrison stated that Vice-President Harris has gained dominant backing from the Democratic party with just one day of voting, as more than half of all delegates have shown their support. He added that she will lead them united in their goal to defeat Donald Trump in November.

Although Harrison did not disclose the number of delegates in favor of Harris, it was evident that with most delegates having already declared their endorsement last week, the outcome was a certain conclusion.

President Joe Biden endorsed Harris to replace him in the White House, after he suspended his reelection campaign last month. Having obtained support from delegates, she is all set to be officially confirmed as the Democratic nominee at their convention scheduled on August 19th in Chicago.

If confirmed, Harris will make history as the first presidential candidate in over five decades to bypass a primary election. But her previous attempt at running for president faltered back in 2019 due to low polling numbers and she has since faced challenges with maintaining high approval ratings during her time as Vice President. Recent polls indicate that Harris ranks among the least popular VP’s ever recorded in US modern history.

Critics have targeted the DNC for their reluctance to organize an impromptu primary election or a convention that permits numerous contenders to vie for the nomination. Despite being traditionally associated with Democrats, several parties including conservatives and Black Lives Matter movement spoke out against the party’s nonchalance towards democratic values last week.

The group asserted that the Democratic Party elites and wealthy contributors are endeavoring to control black voters by selecting Kamala Harris along with an obscure vice president as the fresh Democratic ticket devoid of any public primary vote.

During a telephone conversation with her followers on Friday, Harris expressed that she is “privileged to have been selected as the anticipated Democratic candidate for president of the United States.”

She inadvertently deviated from her pre-planned speech, declaring confidently that we will triumph when we take on this challenge together and become victorious. As your potential leader, I believe in our capabilities to succeed!
