President Bola Tinubu has expressed his strong condemnation of the recent surge in kidnappings and bandit attacks, characterizing it as deeply troubling, immoral, and malevolent.
The president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, released a statement on Tuesday conveying this message. During a meeting with a delegation from the esteemed Islamic Movement, Jam’iyyatu Ansaridden, at the State House, President Tinubu assured that security agencies are swiftly taking action to address the current crisis.
He further stated that comprehensive measures, including necessary resources, policies, and plans, will soon be implemented to ensure the extensive education of Nigerian youths. President Tinubu firmly believes that education is the ultimate solution to the challenges facing the nation, asserting that there is no more powerful weapon against poverty than learning. He pledged his commitment to transforming the lives of the Nigerian people, fostering peace, stability, and economic prosperity.
The president emphasized the importance of providing a holistic education to children, involving teachers and educational institutions that are aligned with the future needs of the country. President Tinubu acknowledged that knowledge, supported by prayers and the people’s backing, has brought him to his current position, highlighting its indispensable role in generating hope for humanity.
Additionally, he stressed the significance of promoting updated knowledge through existing Islamic learning institutions in Northern Nigeria to accelerate development not only in the region but also in Nigeria and across Africa. The president urged for special prayers and the provision of proper education for the youth, emphasizing that kidnapping, banditry, and violence are contrary to the principles of God and hinder progress.
He concluded by emphasizing that peace is the foundation for eliminating poverty and fostering economic growth, calling for collective efforts to work towards a peaceful society.
Sheikh Muhammad Lamine Niass, the leader of Jam’iyyatu Ansaridden, expressed his support for the president’s reform initiatives during his speech. He emphasized the importance of peace and tolerance, which his movement is known for, and assured that they would continue to pray for Nigeria’s peaceful development.
