Nigerian actor Hanks Anuku recently shared the impact of a viral video on his career, which led to years of unemployment. In 2022, a video emerged showing Anuku in disheveled clothing, wandering the streets and talking to himself.

This video sparked concerns about his mental well-being. Actress Shan George refuted these rumors, stating that Anuku was not mentally unstable. However, Adanma Luke challenged George’s statement, prompting the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to investigate.

Anuku clarified that the video was from a film shoot, accusing those who shared it of trying to damage his reputation. In a recent interview, the 64-year-old actor revealed the severe consequences he faced after the video went viral.

He mentioned losing friends, financial stability, and job opportunities as producers stopped contacting him. Anuku explained that his appearance was part of preparing for a role where he portrayed a mentally unstable character.

He immersed himself in the role by observing the environment and following the director’s guidance. Anuku expressed the emotional toll he endured, losing friends and opportunities, feeling abandoned, and experiencing deep pain.

He emphasized the need for understanding and support, shedding light on the challenges actors face in delivering authentic performances.
