Unexpectedly, the much awaited Hamster Kombat, which had been building for months, has let many Nigerians down and disappointed them.

When the coin launched on Thursday, users who had been excitedly tapping away in the anticipation of receiving huge financial prizes were instead left with paltry payouts.

Many participants anticipated substantial gains after five months of hard work; others even dreamed of becoming millionaires. Payouts, however, varied widely, from 1 to 4 dollars, with unverified stories indicating that the greatest earners made between 7 and 17 dollars. The reality, thus, was far from the promise.

People vented their fury on social media, which rapidly became a hub for discontent. Some claimed to have received rewards as little as ₦2.75, which sparked widespread claims that the proponents of Hamster Coin were lying. The neighborhood, which had been hoping for financial success, is now in dismay since what was touted as a chance to change one’s life turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Hamster Kombat, which debuted in March 2024, was finally released on Thursday afternoon. The much-awaited launch was declared via its official X account, #hamster_kombat, with the following message:

“NOW IS THE RIGHT TIME. Trading on $HMSTR has formally started! CEOs, congrats, and to the moon. Options for balance withdrawal and on-chain direct claims are now available. Your tokens are transferable everywhere!

But in spite of all the enthusiasm around the debut, the anticipated financial benefits proved to be unfulfilling. As of the time of writing, Hamster Kombat had a market cap of $535.3 million, a value of $0.008315, and was ranked 114th on CoinMarketCap under the symbol $HMSTR.

Many users vented their fury on social media. “You gave me dust after 4 months; I am hunting hamsters, rats, or anything that looks like a hamster,” jokingly stated one user, Geoffrey Nwankpa. “I spent 5 good months farming Hamster Kombat only to be rewarded with this?” bemoaned another user.

Many people feel deceived as a result of this unsatisfactory debut; what was once thought to be a profitable chance is now recalled as a source of sorrow and annoyance.
