Hamas-Israel Negotiation Talks Continue in Doha

Ongoing talks in Doha aim to broker a deal between Hamas and Israel, focusing on achieving a ceasefire and addressing humanitarian concerns amidst escalating tensions.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced at a press conference in Doha on Tuesday that negotiations to secure an agreement between Hamas and Israel are ongoing.

Majid al-Ansari informed journalists that he was unable to specify when an agreement might be finalized.

“I can confirm that discussions are ongoing, and we remain committed to exploring all possibilities in the pursuit of an agreement. Honestly, setting a timeline for achieving this would be speculative at best,” he added.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that there has been “some progress” in the negotiations for a hostage and ceasefire deal in Gaza. However, he mentioned that he could not provide a specific time frame for when an agreement might be reached.

Of the approximately 250 individuals taken hostage during the Hamas-led raid on Israel on October 7, 2023, which ignited the conflict, about 100 remain inside the Gaza Strip. It is believed that at least a third of them are deceased.
