Gunmen believed to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted at least 10 individuals in the Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The incident occurred between Sobe and Agric Farm along the Sobe-Ifon road on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. According to a reliable source, one of the kidnapped victims is Mrs. Irouje Omian, the wife of the community youth leader.
The source revealed that the victims were taken by surprise when the gunmen emerged from the bush and forcefully abducted them.
The group of kidnapped individuals is said to consist of five men and five women, and they were allegedly targeted by suspected herdsmen and their accomplices.
It is disheartening to note that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred on this road. In fact, last year, 12 individuals were kidnapped, leading to the establishment of a mini barrack by the Federal Government in the area.
Unfortunately, the presence of the mini barrack has not been able to put an end to the recurring kidnappings.
The Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, stating that three individuals were kidnapped.
However, the police have launched extensive search operations in the surrounding bushes to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
