Two security guards were slain by gunmen at Ikare Akoko, the administrative center of Ondo State’s Akoko North-East Local Government Area, by what are believed to be ritualists.
After killing the victims, the shooters are said to have severed their heads and hands.
Both the NASFAT school and a well-known market in the town were the sites of the assaults.
One of the guards was slain by the shooters, who then severed his head and laid it next to the corpse, according to an eyewitness.
After being slain, the other man’s hand was severed, and the dismembered hand was also left by him.
The fact that the murderers fled the scene without taking anything from the dead person indicates that they were ritual murders.
Operatives of the Nigerian Police from the Ikare-Akoko Division removed the victims’ corpses and brought them to the mortuary of the Ondo State Specialist Hospital.
The state’s police spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is ongoing.
