A violent attack by unidentified gunmen in Abia State reportedly leaves many policemen dead. Authorities intensify efforts to restore calm.
Tension has engulfed Ohafia Local Government Area in Abia State after a deadly early morning attack by gunmen.
The attack, which took place around 7:30 am in the Ebem and Asaga areas, reportedly led to the deaths of several police officers.
Eyewitnesses depicted a tumultuous scene as residents hurriedly evacuated in fear, leaving the typically lively neighborhoods deserted.

This recent outbreak of violence follows closely on the heels of another assault on police officers in the state just two days prior. On Sunday, armed assailants targeted a convoy in Umuahia, where they ambushed officers assigned to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, a member of the House of Representatives.
The ambush resulted in the death of one officer, injured another, and nearly caught the driver as well.
Currently, the Abia State Police Command has not released a statement concerning the Ohafia attack, causing many residents to feel anxious and in search of clarity.
