On Friday, unidentified gunmen launched an attack on the secretariat of Ogbaru Local Government Area resulting in significant damage to buildings and other properties.
According to insiders who spoke with OBASANJONEWS, the attackers arrived in significant numbers and unleashed a barrage of gunfire that demolished structures at the council’s headquarters.
According to reports, no fatalities were recorded in the occurrence.

Despite lacking complete information about the attack at the time of filing this report, its occurrence has been verified by police authorities.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer for the State Police reported that in the wee hours of August 30th, 2024 an assault occurred on Ogbaru LGA.
Despite the valiant efforts of security officials, gunmen still managed to cause destruction to properties within the local government area including buildings, though no loss of life was reported.
According to him, the region was currently undergoing a collaborative security operation.
Ogbaru Local Government headquarters has been attacked by gunmen before, so this is not the first occurrence.
An earlier assault on the secretariat resulted in ablaze structures and vehicles within its vicinity. The identity of the assailants remains unknown, but secessionist factions are often suspected to be involved.
