Suspected assailants have tragically taken the life of the 30-year-old village chief of Marke, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Malam Kabiru Mohammed, who was appointed as the village chief of Marke in 2018, displayed quick thinking when he sensed the presence of armed individuals in his vicinity around 12.30 am on Thursday. He swiftly sought refuge by hiding in the ceiling of his home.
Upon the arrival of the assailants, they evacuated all individuals from the premises and proceeded to search for their intended targets, which included the village chief who was concealed in the ceiling along with his elder brother, Tukur Mohammed.

A member of the community, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the assailants eventually located the victim, resulting in a tragic outcome where Malam Kabiru Mohammed was brutally murdered and the house was set ablaze.
In response to this horrific incident, the councilor of Dandamisa Ward, Aminu Sani Marke, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the village chief. He mentioned that due to the destruction caused by the fire, the body of the deceased could not be retrieved.
Additionally, he highlighted that the assailants looted valuables amounting to millions of naira during their one-hour operation in the village.
Despite attempts to reach out to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, there was no response to calls or text messages, leaving the community in a state of shock and uncertainty.
