Gunmen burn two vehicles and kill eight police and soldiers in Imo
In Imo state on Tuesday, two vehicles were set on fire and eight security personnel were allegedly attacked and killed.
An eyewitness told reporters that the event took place at around 11:30 a.m. in Oriagu, close to the Aba branch in the Ehime Mbano council area of Imo state.
Soldiers, police officers, and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, or NSCDC, were among the security personnel that were impacted.
Four troops in their uniforms and with their weapons were seen in the attack’s viral video clip.
Additionally, both of their automobiles were on fire.
The road leading to the incident site had reportedly been closed off as of the time this article was filed.
Within and outside of the impacted neighbourhood, tension remained high.
The incident occurred only a few hours earlier, according to the eyewitness. I initially noticed the two Hilux vehicles as they travelled from Oriagu to the Aba branch in Ehime Mbano.
“The Hilux vehicles are still on fire as I speak to you right now. The assailants set the soldiers on fire.
“There is tension everywhere. Our stores are now shut. We’re leaving for home. We frequently come across security personnel.
They stopped traffic by blocking the road. People are rushing to our houses. The fear among our people is that anything could occur right now.
“In the first car, I counted more than five soldiers. I counted more than four security personnel in the second. They claimed that they were all murdered.
Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, had not yet responded to the inquiry as of the time this article was filed.
