Gunmen attack bus headed for Benue, leaving one person dead and many more injured
On Thursday, suspected Fulani herders opened fire on a Benue Links bus carrying passengers to Otukpo along the Naka road in the Gwer West LGA.
The marauders’ onslaught resulted in the death of one passenger and the injury of numerous more.
Marauding herders have already attacked travellers on the unsafe road in such horrible ways, as evidenced by the most recent attack.
The village of Tyolaha has frequently been the target of attacks by alleged Fulani herdsmen.

The herdsmen, who numbered about 15, easily dispersed their captives so they could flee by dispersing in all directions.
Most inhabitants have fled the area because of the attacks, and farmers have moved away from that section of the road. The remaining people are now requesting protection from the authorities and security personnel.
Anekwe Catherine, the public information officer for the Benue Police, stated that “a bus belonging to Benue Links that was travelling to Otukpo was attacked by unknown gunmen, inflicting wounds on three people, including women, and one person died this morning.”
