Gunman Kills Hotel Manager in Ilorin
In a shocking incident, a hotel manager was shot and killed in Ilorin, leading to heightened security concerns.
On Thursday night in the capital of Kwara State, Ilorin, a hotel manager was shot and killed by individuals believed to be members of a cult.
Before the tragic event, Anthony Balogun was identified as the victim who managed his mother’s hotel.
Around 8:00 pm, the occurrence took place within the confines of a hotel located in Ilorin’s Olunlade district.
It was reported that two men carrying weapons arrived at the hotel and requested to speak with the manager. Thinking they might be interested patrons, Balogun departed from his room to greet them in the lobby.

According to a hotel informant, the attackers enticed him out and fired at his chest from up close before slashing his head, hands and legs with machetes.
Obasanjonews.com was informed by the elder sister of the deceased that she had reported the matter to the police.
An anonymous individual recounted, “He made a call to me around 6:30 pm. Then at approximately 7 pm, he rang again intending to convey some details. However, as I was occupied in the kitchen, I had one of the kids answer his call.”
I made attempts to call him back at 8 pm, however his phone was turned off and despite further efforts, I could not get through. Later on, his wife contacted me and requested that I go to the Kwara State General Hospital (now known as Kwara State University Teaching Hospital). It was there where I discovered his body; disturbingly mutilated and lifeless.
An informant from the Ganmo Divisional Police Station, where the case was reported, hinted that it could be a homicide.
As of now, there is no official confirmation from the state police command’s spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi. All attempts to contact her have been unsuccessful.
