Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has clarified that Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a Muslim cleric based in Kaduna, was not involved in the safe return of the abducted Kuriga pupils.

Despite offering to negotiate with the bandits for their release, Gumi did not play a role in their rescue.

The governor confirmed that all 137 schoolchildren who were kidnapped on March 7, 2024, from the Chikun Local Government Area have been rescued by the military in collaboration with local authorities from Zamfara State. He dismissed speculations about ransom payments and emphasized that Gumi’s involvement was nonexistent.
