Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Islamic cleric, has urged the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to engage in talks with robbers.

Gumi suggested that the Nigerian government construct clinics, marketplaces, and schools for outlaws.

In an interview with Trust TV, Gumi stated that rather than continuing to spend billions of Naira fighting terrorism and banditry, Tinubu’s administration ought to give bandits a chance at a better life.

Gumi says, “Have a conversation with these people. Construct hospitals and schools for them. Give them a future. Construct for those markets.

“Even the folks we refer to as bandits occasionally lament that their cattle markets have been destroyed, meaning they no longer have any.

Thus, the military ought to be entirely excluded from this situation. We are not at war with any foreign nation. We ought to strengthen our own defences.
