The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, return leg qualifier between Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau will take place on Monday night at the Estadio 24 de Setembro, according to Abubakar Ibrahim, the head coach of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FC.

According to Obasanjonews24, Nigeria fell to Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in the rematch last Friday at the Abuja National Stadium.

After three games, José Peseiro’s team is presently in second place overall in Group A of the AFCON qualifiers, one point behind Guinea-Bissau.

Ibrahim reiterated that football is not magic in an interview with Obasanjonews24 prior to the second match, asserting that the Super Eagles can defeat Guinea-Bissau 3-0 in front of their home crowd.

Football is not magic, remarked Ibrahim. Without a question.

“The Super Eagles of Nigeria may go there and defeat them by any score, even 3-0 or 2-0. Football is not magic, yet it really does happen.

“The team is the only problem the Super Eagles have. If Nigerians can inspire and support the group. The athletes are highly skilled competitors.

They were chosen on the basis of merit. Hence, José Peseiro’s team has a chance to compete in the AFCON in Ivory Coast in 2023. Nigeria has traditionally excelled in football, even when it appeared they wouldn’t make the team. In the end, they achieved major tournament qualification.

“The Super Eagles have participated regularly in both the World Cup and the Nations Cup, with the exception of the most recent FIFA World Cup tournament that was hosted in Qatar. We have consistently participated in the competition.

Having said that, it is now not a good idea to underestimate any nation, but Nigeria’s reputation in international football is strong, therefore the Super Eagles still have a chance.
