Ini Edo, a Nollywood actress, has encouraged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to be responsible and open while tallying the results of the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections held on Saturday.
She also exhorted them to act with honesty.
After casting her ballot in Akwa Ibom State’s unit 2 Awa Iman ward 1, Onna local government area, Edo stated it would not be just to let the wrong people run the state or for the electorate’s ballots to be invalidated.
She saw that, as was the case with the presidential election, many voters did not show up for the elections.
“For once, I want INEC to be responsible and act with honesty. A lot of abnormalities can be seen on social media, and Nigerians have completely lost faith in INEC, which is regrettable.
Thus, I’m hopeful that they will be able to demonstrate their worth in some way. I exhort them to act morally because the world is watching and because we can’t afford to let the wrong people control this state or country, which is ours. If not, we are only responsible for ourselves,” she said.
