The Labour Party has once more urged the residents of Imo State to break free from the chains of poverty and insecurity ahead of the governor’s election on November 11, 2023.
Imo has seen extreme instability over the last three years, according to OBASANJO NEWS24, which has resulted in non-state actors occupying some areas, kidnappings, and the loss of several lives and property.
The Labour Party believes it can, nevertheless, bring about a return to normalcy in the State.
The Imo electorate would control their own future, according to Chief Innocent Okeke, the LP’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East, who spoke to the Daily Post on Friday.
Senator Athan Achonu, the party’s nominee, was ready to deal with issues including unemployment, insecurity, and crumbling infrastructure, according to him.

He claims that Senator Achonu has made a decision to handle issues like poverty, unemployment, shoddy law enforcement, political instability, and shoddy security infrastructure before tackling insecurity in the State.
According to Okeke, Senator Achonu will give young people access to capital, financial services, skill development, and business help after identifying unemployment as one of the main causes of insecurity.
Insecurity in Imo State has been cited by Senator Athan Achonu as a serious problem, and he has promised to address it immediately upon taking office.
“He has identified the core causes of insecurity in Imo State and is taking action to address them. Poverty, unemployment, shoddy law enforcement, political unrest, and shoddy security infrastructure are a few of these.
“Athan would take a holistic approach to addressing these core causes in order to address insecurity in Imo State.
According to him, tackling poverty requires giving young people access to employment chances, economic opportunities, and assuring their active participation in governance.
“By providing the security forces with the necessary tools and training, Achonu’s administration would be able to implement the law more effectively.
One cannot help but applaud Senator Achonu’s focus on citizen involvement and participation. Senator Achonu is aware that the collective power of Imo State’s citizens is a key factor in the state’s prosperity.
