Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation, has warned Rivers State residents that they are the state’s problems, not Governor Nyesom Wike, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Amaechi made this statement while urging the people of Rivers to cast ballots, claiming that this was the only way to remove the misrule of the Wike-led administration.
The former governor of Rivers State spoke on Wednesday while canvassing support for Tonye Cole, the APC’s candidate for governor, at the well-known Mile 3 Market in Port Harcourt and in electoral wards in Etche and Ikwerre Local Government Areas.

According to Amaechi, Wike is tribalistic. Wike solely supports himself, his money, and his loud tongue; he doesn’t even help the Ikwerre people. We’ll triumph. You must vote in order for us to prevail.
“They are fed up with Wike’s theft…
If he had any shame, he wouldn’t have gone on national television and said that Atiku was drinking 40-year-old whisky when he was protesting outside the INEC headquarters. Is he healthy?
Wike isn’t our problem, you are, he said. You begin dancing if he arrives right away [with money]. If Wike offers you ten million naira and then steals one billion naira when you give him power. Wike has given up on everything, including hospitals and schools. Wike is the contractor in Rivers State, and he owns all the money.
