Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to extend his stay as Manchester City’s manager, continuing his successful spell with the Premier League champions.

According to a report by the Athletic on Tuesday, Pep Guardiola is expected to remain as Manchester City’s manager for an additional year by agreeing to a one-year contract extension.

Since arriving at the Etihad in 2016, Guardiola has secured six Premier League titles and led the club to its first-ever Champions League victory.

The ex-coach of Barcelona and Bayern Munich has a contract that is set to expire at the conclusion of this season.

Speculation had arisen that Guardiola’s tenure might be nearing its conclusion, as City grappled with an uncertain future amid an ongoing hearing concerning 115 alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations.

The director of football at the club, Txiki Begiristain, who is a close associate of Guardiola, has announced that he will be leaving at the end of the season.

According to The Athletic, the 53-year-old is set to sign a one-year contract extension with an option for an additional year.

Guardiola also agreed to his last two contract extensions with City during the November international break.

The English champions will take to the field again on Saturday, aiming to end their manager’s unprecedented losing streak.

For the first time in his coaching career, Guardiola has experienced four consecutive losses.

City, grappling with the loss of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri due to a season-ending knee injury, have slipped five points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League following defeats against Bournemouth and Brighton.

They were also defeated 4-1 by Sporting Lisbon in their most recent Champions League match and were knocked out of the League Cup by Tottenham.

However, keeping one of the most celebrated coaches in football history would significantly lift the morale of City players and fans.

During his eight full seasons in Manchester, Guardiola has secured a total of 15 major honors. This impressive tally includes two FA Cups, four League Cups, one Club World Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.
