Riyad Mahrez played well in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. The team’s boss, Pep Guardiola, liked what he saw.
The Premier League winners got into the final because Mahrez scored all three goals.
“This is the fourth time in a row that we’re here. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, we couldn’t do it. We did really well. I’m really happy that the club is in the FA Cup final after so many years.
“Mahrez is a great player who knows how to play on big stages and score goals. It was important for him to stay calm during the penalty. Guardiola said after the game, “He loves to play football, and he’s given a lot over the years and hopefully will give more in the future.”
City is still trying to win the Treble this season, and on Wednesday, they will play Arsenal in a top-of-the-table match at the Etihad.
